Wieliczka
Wieliczka is a salt mine that is so far underground that you have to go down hundreds of steps to reach it. You have to come back up in a lift! When the salt was taken out of the mine there were big empty caverns left. Some of the workers decided to carve statues with the rock salt that was left. They made church which is entirely made of salt. There are carvings of stories from the bible on the walls. You can see lots of carving such as the birth of Jesus and the Last Supper. You can also see illuminated statues of Pope John Paul II and the Virgin Mary. Even the alter and tiles on the floor are carved out of salt.
